I love true stories from people who have used the Law of Attraction to attract what they wanted (or sometimes what they did not because they weren’t using it consciously!). These people often start off as skeptics like me, and yet they ended up with irrefutable proof of the power of the Universe in reaping what they focused on. I just finished a great book of LOA tips and stories called Life Lessons for Mastering the Law of Attraction. I will say it is missing great tips on finding love so some time spent reading Sex and the Universe is definitely a worthwhile endeavor!
The book is part of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and is a basic “how to” guide for the Law of Attraction coupled with some pretty intriguing anecdotes on a variety of experiences using LOA. Some of the writers stumbled upon the laws accidentally, some had been familiar for years but had just not considered using them for their current situation. Many of the stories are “last chance” stories…the writers had nothing to lose by trying the laws to heal their current situations. A great story by Amy Scott Grant called “The Day I Ran Out of Money” is one of the brilliant examples of how the universe provides, and has always, and always will!
Again, there is far more focus on money, business and career than love in the book, but it is still awe inspiring and should be a part of your Law of Attraction library! (You have one, right?)
I’ve spoken before about creating a dream board to help you manifest what you want in your life including your soul mate, utilizing the Law of Attraction and my ebook, Sex and the Universe. I found a great video (there are actually several examples on YouTube) of making one and thought you would enjoy!
A vision board is a very powerful thing. Pam, in the video, will talk about just being pulled towards certain images and not knowing why. Perhaps you see a photo of a man in argyle socks and you’ve never really felt anything about argyle socks but this photo does something to you. Cut it out! You are drawn there for a reason. Add powerful phrases and quotes as well. It’s all in the video and definitely worth your time!
Living a life of joyful expectation. Think about that. I found that phrase somewhere years ago and had it pinned up for a really long time. What are you expecting? If I asked you “what do you expect to happen to you today?” would it be good. Are you living in happy anticipation of love, money, health and all your heart desires, knowing it is on it’s way…or are you HOPING it is? The Law of Attraction wants you to be anticipating the best of everything…
Are you expecting it to be hard to find love because you are over 40, divorced and perhaps very afraid? Change your expectations and you will change your results. Are you expecting to be let down or do you wake up in the morning anticipating the miracles the Universe is ready to send your way? Do you track those mini-miracles in your gratitude journal each night. Each little success, each flirtatious moment, the glance from the gentleman at the grocery, the touch of a hand from the girl at the video store…all of these are signs you are putting out the right kind of energy.
The Law of Attraction is powerful! Like attracts like, what you think about, you likely draw to you more. So, you’ve decided you want to attract your new boyfriend or girlfriend. You visualise, write out descriptions, maybe do a dream board. Sometimes you go out with friends to bars or parties. But what are you actually doing once you are there? I discuss action in Sex and the Universe and you have got to take some. All the other steps are great, but you must get the nerve up to actually do something!
When you are out, be yourself. Your best self, to be sure, but if you are not into sports, then sporting events are not where you should be. If you are a tech geek, then be the best tech geek you can be and go find the people you want to spend time with: at conventions, workshops, adult education classes, whatever! If you love gardening and envision you and your new love puttering in the yard together, then you should be at nurseries or lectures on the topic.
Now that I have you there, what do you do. One of the best books ever written on this topic (the title is self-explanatory) How to Win Friends and Influence People was written back in 1936 but still has some of the best advice ever on how to approach people…by being authentic and really getting to know them. The author, Dale Carnegie, believed that finding something about the person that you were truly curious about or interested in was a great way to break the ice. "That’s a really unusual tie. Did you buy it around here?","I noticed you are driving a Mini-Cooper. What type of gas mileage does that get?", "Is that the new iPhone? How do you like it?" The possibilities are endless but do try to find something you are genuinely intrigued by so the ice-breaker can lead to a real conversation.
The Law of Attraction is working whether you want it to or not. If you aren’t getting out and living you aren’t going to get very far in actually meeting your new love.
Is your ideal soul mate slothful, overweight and unhealthy? Do they spend every night on the couch guzzling beer and hoovering up junk food? Has their 6 pack turned into a beer keg? No, on all counts. Do any of these statements come close to describing you? Well, if the answer is yes, you may have a problem. Why? Well, the law of attraction works on the premise that like attracts like.
So, if you spend all your down time in front of the TV and you don’t spend as much time on yourself and your health as you should, then guess what? You will be attracting TV loving beer swilling unfit individuals.
If you want to attract a gorgeous healthy date who is full of life and good health, then you need to do some work on yourself first. Not only are you going to look and feel better, but you are going to be much more attractive to your ideal Mr or Ms Perfect. When you think about it, it does make sense.
How many happy couples do you see out and about who mirror each other? The glowing with vitality couple, or the unhealthy couple. But you don’t often see an ultra healthy type with the exact opposite.
Easy. Think about the attributes you would like that person to have. Make a list. Then check it against yourself. If you have been guilty of being lazy, join a gym, health club, or start going for a brisk walk or jog each day. You will be amazed at how many people you will meet just by getting out there in pursuit of good health. Pretty soon, you will be looking forward to your fitness sessions and will feel terrible if you miss them.
Keep an eye on your list for the perfect soul mate. How many ticks can you honestly give yourself? Over time, you will start to see that more and more of those attributes now belong to yourself. The more ticks you have against your name, the closer you are to finding your perfect soul mate. In fact, you will find that the more and more ticks you are piling up, the closer the singles you are meeting will be to your ideal match.
The fitter and healthier you become, the easier the singles dating will be for you. Not only will you look and feel better, but so will the singles that you are attracting. A win-win situation. For more on the principles of the law of attraction and how to attract your soul mate you will find further information here.
When you read the e-book Sex and the Universe, you’ll notice one consistent fact: it’s OPTIMISTIC! The Law of Attraction states that “like attracts like” so if you want positive changes, you need to change direction and begin to act and think with optimism.
You’ve identified some cynicism and negativity in your life. You know it’s a roadblock to achieving your dreams via the Law of Attraction. It’s a hard habit to change and somewhat complicated by our inherent happiness set points. Take heart! New research shows we can reset our happiness set points and here are some ideas to get you started:
Start off with GRATITUDE! Grab a notebook and a pen and start brainstorming!
1. What do unknown (and underappreciated) people provide for you every day in the form of goods and services? Naikan Self-Reflection Therapy incorporates this:
“In examing our relationship with another we begin by looking at what we have received from that person. My wife made me fresh squeezed orange juice this morning. A colleague sent me a calligraphy pen. A man at the motor vehicle office gave me an application for the renewal of my driver’s license. There are all simple, clear descriptions of reality. The other person’s attitude or motivation does not change the fact that I benefited from his or her effort. Often we take such things for granted. We hurry through our day giving little attention to all the “little” things we are receiving. But are these things really “little”? It only seems so because we are being supported and our attention is elsewhere. But when we run out of gas or lose our glasses, these little things grab our attention and suddenly we realize their true importance. As we list what we receive from another person, we are grounded in the simple reality of how we have been supported and cared for. In many cases we may be surprised at the length or importance of such a list and a deeper sense of gratitude may be naturally stimulated. Without a conscious shift of attention to the myriad ways in which the world supports us, we risk our attention being trapped only by problems and obstacles, leaving us to linger in suffering and self-pity.”
Example: today I’m wearing a t-shirt made by Hanes that was sewn by some unknown factory worker. Don’t get bogged down in the unfairness of their situation! Just be appreciative of the work they did for you. The Law of Attraction states that we will manifest more of what we focus on. Be grateful and more reasons to be grateful will appear! Here’s a great blog post on something we all take for granted!
2. What have you achieved?
We often spend a great deal of time focusing on what we aren’t doing versus what we are! What small and large things have you accomplished lately? Have you been kinder to your sister? Did you get the cat to the vet? Did you water plants last night? Write a great presentation? Did you raise a child, help a friend, work especially hard to get where you are today?
You must love yourself before you can really love another or find happiness, so spend some time really appreciating the good in YOU to facilitate the Universe’s Law of Attraction.
3. Get outside and appreciate the abundance around you! Take binoculars and notice as many little miracles as you can. Large flying hunks of metal (airplanes…how does that happen?), a seemingly dead plant rising back up out of the sidewalk, the kindness of strangers. Pull into your awareness as much as you can handle, and the improbability and impossibility of the world around you. You could never touch the tip of the “miracle iceberg”. Spend some time today, and every day, just noticing. Being aware of miracles attracts new ones to you!
